Grand Canyon: An Amazing Spectacle

What a contrast! After seeing the man-made structures that make up Las Vegas, the awe-inspiring views of the Grand Canyon makes you realise who the Master Creator really is. A truly humbling experience.

Due to bad planning on the trip, we ended up driving 6 hours across Arizona from Yuma to the Grand Canyon. It was a beautiful drive through the desert though - the long, open road and the big blue sky in front of us. Lots of nothingness - some tumbleweeds and cacti, mountains in the distance.

Our first glimpse in the car of the canyon was simply jaw-dropping. The size and depth is on a colossal scale. Also, there was an eerie silence from the canyon (if you ignore the Japanese tourists).

We caught the sunset on our first day and the sunrise on the next - watching the colors change on the rocks and in the sky. We didn't have enough time to do the trails so we rode a small 6-seater plane that gave us a bird's-eye view.

Absolutely incredible to think a place like this and on this grand scale, exists on this Earth. I have found a new ambition to visit all of the great national parks in America. And next time I return here, I'm going white-water rafting.
