The Twee-ness of New England B&Bs
a) a restroom cubicle at a truck stop on the I-95
b) the local department store's ladies
c) your home (?!)
d) a New England bed and breakfast
5 brownie points to those who chose d). I had the fortune of selecting the Red Sleigh Inn in Franconia, New Hampshire for an overnight stay. I've read somewhere that New England B&Bs are notorious for trying to outdo each other in their twee-ness. From the pretty plaques to the gregarious hosts and bountiful home-made breakfasts and the assistant innkeeper cat/dog, I love these places! The Red Sleigh Inn certainly lived up to these expectations - the rooms were seriously chintzy and flowery; there was the obligatory map with pushpins to indicate where you have travelled from and the myriad toiletries including local eco-friendly Tom of Maine's toothpaste.
